The first project in Brazil by Philippe Starck, this luxury hotel has a '50s vintage decor with all the modern accommodations you could ask for. Fasano has a seafood restaurant onsite as well as a cocktail bar, and the rooftop pool has phenomenal views of Ipanema.

Worth every penny
Located right on Ipanema Beach, just a few blocks from the gay section, this hotel is simply stunning. Get an ocean-front room and enjoy your own view of the most beautiful beach. The beds face a wall of glass so you can wake up to that view. And the pool is simply the most remarkable place in the world - it's an infinity pool on the roof overlooking the Dois Irmãos. Get a (really expensive) caipirinha and take it all in. We could only afford one night and then moved to a cheaper hotel, but it was worth it.
